Deybruyar is a creative brand studio rooted in resourcefulness, built to help people and ideas move forward, with clarity, originality, and intent.

It’s the brainchild of Erin Sweeney, a strategist, storyteller, and supreme generalist who never quite fit into one title, and eventually realized she didn’t need to.

From a young age, Erin lived between big dreams and big discipline. She played softball at Illinois Wesleyan University while earning her business degree, landing a corporate sales role right out of school. But what looked good on paper didn’t feel right in practice.

She was craving creativity. Community. The kind of work that feels personal and purposeful. She didn’t know what that looked like yet, but she’d figure it out. She always did.

A few pivots (and one well-timed intro) later, she found herself in advertising. Finally, she had a seat at the creative table, but even there, she didn’t feel at home. Not quite a Creative. Not just Strategy. Not Account. Erin was the one who could do a little bit of everything, and do it well. If she didn’t know how yet, she’d learn fast. Always a student of the game.

Eventually, like many who spend years overachieving in corporate systems, burnout hit. And with it, a question that changed everything:

“What would it look like if I worked this hard for myself?”

In 2023, Erin left her role at WPP and founded Deybruyar, a studio for brands, founders, visionaries and artists building with purpose. It would be strategic, intentional, and values-led. It would support good people doing good work. And it would be hers.

The name came from her mom, Laurie (a.k.a. L-Dawg), who texted her one day:
“I think I found what you are.”

It was a French word: débrouillard, meaning “skilled at adapting to any situation; resourceful.” Erin knew the name of her future company in that moment. She changed the spelling to make it her own, and to help her community sound it out. Always one step ahead.
